Kombu Wholefoods - Your Online Healthfood Store

Kombu Wholefoods opened in Bellingen on the Mid North Coast of NSW on 26th September 2004. Previously the Raymond's car repair garage, the transformation to the building is startling with car workshops replaced with carved wood, art work and numerous pots!

Owners Kevin and Lowanna Doye arrived in Bellingen after two years in Sydney. Before that they spent 18 months travelling by bicycle from Oxford, UK to Sydney, Australia, to highlight the impact of air travel on the environment. In the process they wrote numerous articles and won an award for outstanding achievement from the Australian Geographic Society. Kevin and Lowanna now live in Bellingen with their three young children.

Social Enterprise

Lowanna and Kevin run Kombu as a social enterprise where environmental and social impacts of the business (including the producrts we sell) is considered equally as important as the usual financial considerations. To that end they also run the business along not-for-profit lines with any profits at the end of the year going back into the business and into the wider community. This online store is run by a great team (you can see what we look like in the photo on the right!) from the same location as the on-ground store and was developed to ensure easy access to healthy, planet friendly products wherever you live across Australia - we hope you enjoy shopping with us.

Mission Statement

We aim to bring you the finest quality bulk wholefoods, to delight your taste buds and nourish your body. Where possible we will source regional produce because it is fresher, more affordable, supports the community and is more sustainable for the environment.

We will strive to provide minimally packaged organic produce, as we believe eating food free of chemicals and hormones is more beneficial to you, and more sustainable for the earth. We will endeavour to ensure that there is no genetically modified food on our shelves.

A significant percentage of any annual profits will be donated to environmental, social and community projects. By doing these things we aim to ensure that your health, and the health of our planet are the foundations of Kombu Wholefoods.
